Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Are you accepting new patients?

A: Right now, Dr. El Said is not accepting new patients. We have a male doctor in the clinic, Dr. Bashar Hadid, who is currently accepting patients. You can leave your contact if you'd like to be placed on the waitlist for Dr. El Said.

Q: Is this a walk-in/can I get treatment/be seen for my acute medical need?

A: We are a family practice, and the presiding doctors can only see their rostered patients. If you are one of our rostered patients and have an urgent concern and one of our doctors is in, we will happily try to accommodate after discussing with the doctor, so please call us before coming. We can also accommodate a few same-day virtual appointments according to urgency.

Q: Can I get a refill for my prescription?/My pharmacy faxed a request to renew my prescription and they haven’t received a response.

A: Prescription renewals are only covered if they are by appointment. We can happily renew your prescription with a virtual or in-person appointment. Otherwise, renewals in response to pharmacy faxes are subject to a $20 charge.

Q: When can I come in for blood work and lab services?

A: The clinic lab is open from 12 pm to 6:30 pm on weekdays and from 1 pm to 2 pm on Saturdays. The lab is closed Sundays. If one of our doctors has ordered blood work for you, you do not need an appointment and can walk in during the listed hours. We cannot do blood work requested by doctors who don’t work in our office.

Q: I am connected for my virtual appointment, but the doctor hasn't joined. Is she going to connect?

A: Yes. Sometimes we can run late for reasons outside our control, such as problems with the connection or other patients seen on the same day having complex needs that take longer than expected. We always contact our patients if appointments are to be canceled or rescheduled. If you have not gotten a message to this effect, your appointment is still happening, and the doctor will be with you as soon as she can.

Q: Do you offer travel advice and vaccination?

A: Most vaccines are available at our office. A prior appointment with the doctor is required to determine which vaccine should be given.

Q: What’s the process of becoming a registered patient at this office?

A: Please sign an enrollment form with the desired doctor found here (Link to forms) and send it to us by email at info@drelsaid.ca. We also need a copy of your health card and your address and phone number to create a new chart for you. Once this information is received, we will set up a meet & greet appointment with your doctor. You should expect to receive a new patient registration form through our ocean portal a day prior to your appointment. If you haven't received the form, please notify us by email so that we make sure it's sent. That form must be completed so the doctor can access your medical history. Please take the time to complete it to the best of your knowledge.

Q: Which platform do you use for virtual appointments?

A: Dr. El Said uses the Ontario Telehealth Network Platform (OTN), approved by the ministry of health. You should receive a link prior to your virtual appointment to connect. Please connect 10-15 mins before your appointment. You may expect a 30-40 mins wait time. Once you are connected, you will be in the queue to see the doctor. Please make sure to click on the 'join' button and allow the application to use your camera and microphone. Connecting on a laptop/desktop is always better than using your phone. If you're connected and cannot see/hear the doctor and it shows on your screen that the host is connected, kindly log out and log back in immediately, as the doctor will be waiting for you to reconnect.

Q: I need to send photos/forms to the doctor to discuss during my appointment.

A: Please email us the information at info@drelsaid.ca at least 3 hours prior to your appointment so that we ensure it’s attached to your chart and the doctor can review it during your virtual appointment.

Q: I don’t have a health card. Can I be seen at this office?

A: Yes. We do accept private pay patients. Please send us an appointment request and the reason by email, and we will respond to you with the correct fee and a link to pay.

Q: I have a family doctor, but I would like to see Dr. El Said for a specific concern, such as IUD insertion.

A: Please ask your family doctor to send us a referral and we will contact you to book you in if the referral is accepted.

Q: What’s the best way to book an appointment?

A: Online booking is the fastest and best way to book. Click Here.
